Last year’s record: 7-3
2015 final ranking: Not ranked
Best assets: Start with the confidence that the Knights built up by winning their final five games last season. The Knights narrowly missed the North 1, Group 1 playoffs, but a big chunk of that team is back believing they are ready for the next step.
New Milford has always been at its best when it has a great ground game, and the pieces for that are in place. Watch senior RB Christian Correa (1,430 rushing yards, 18 TDs), one of the best offensive threats in North Jersey. This team has outstanding size up front on offense and defense, including sophomore DE Alexandre Molina (6-0, 190), junior OT/DT Jackson Brown (6-2, 285) and senior OT/DE Rialey Matthews (6-1, 255).No one is pushing this team around. Junior TE/LB Matt McElroy (88 tackles) is a difference-maker. Junior QB Ryan Picinic is back after starting the last six games last season, running an offense that averaged 28.7 points under his watch.
Biggest concerns: Like all small schools, overall depth will always be an issue. Coach Bill Wilde said the Knights need to find a couple of cornerbacks this month, but added that he has a nice collection of players vying for the job.
